Bandipur National Park

The Bandipur national park is one of the most familiar wildlife reserves in India. The park was founded in 1931 and well known as the most popular tourist destination in India these days. It is located in Chamarajanagar district of Indian state Karnataka. The national park spreads around 874 square kilometers and it is a part of Nilgiri biosphere reserve. One can find several varities of wild animals like bengal tigers and elephants in the park. It is also famous for sandalwood trees and some other rare species of herbs.


The park is well covered with dense forest and serves as the best location for wild animals and birds. There are different kinds of herbs and trees found in the park. Some of the most common species of flora are rosewood, sandal wood, bamboo and teak. There are four rivers inside the Bandipur national park which provides right surrounding for the growth of all herbs and trees. Apart from the bird species one can also find elephants and royal Bengal tigers in the place. How to reach the place:

Many tourists prefer to visit the place during September to November as this is the perfect time to enjoy the beauty there. The park remains closed during the month of December. Hence you should not plan your trip in that month.

You can travel to the place by train. The nearest railway station is Nanjungud. You can also reach at the place through airway. The nearest airport is located at Mysore.
